Strategies that build a coalition and bring success to communities are policy, enforcement, education, media and mobilization. Leon County Community Coalition is not under the illusion that we can successfully eliminate all of the drugs in Leon County. The primary task of the coalition is to empower local citizens to have a sense of power over the circumstances that often seem to control the community and to realize that together they can have a significant impact to reduce drug use in Leon County.

1888 Winchester Raffle

Congratulations go to Willie Gilliam of Buffalo for being the winner in the gun raffle sponsored by the Leon County Community Coalition.  Mr. Gilliam won a 78 Winchester Carbine, manufactured in 1888 valued at $2000.00.  The drawing was held April 17, 2009 at Buffalo Sporting Goods.  Owner, Archie Van Wey drew Mr. Gilliam’s name out of 400 tickets sold. Upon receiving the information about winning the gun and learning that the money raised goes into the youth prevention programs in Leon County, Mr. Gilliam donated the gun back to the coalition to be raffled again at a later date.   Beverly Vandayburg, Executive Director of LCCC would like to thank Mr. Gilliam on behalf of the youth of Leon County for his generous donation.
